The
Young Yorkville
Players

G
iving credit where credit is due, several years ago, Board Member Stormy Baucom's pet project was the "pee-wee players". The board considered this a risky venture in today's litigious society, but Stormy was annoyingly persistent. Finally, the board reluctantly agreed, and sensibly changed the name - the Young Yorkville Players was born. Since then, the results have been astonishing: more and more young people show up to audition, attendance at the Young Yorkville Players plays exceeds that of the adult productions, and some of our young people have 'graduated' to fill roles in the adult plays we were unable to fill otherwise. Indeed, the Young Yorkville Players has been our most successful endeavor. In the summer of 2004, two of our "veteran" young players, approached the Board of Directors about the possibility of the two of them co-directing the upcoming Young Yorkville Players play. Some of the Board members were reluctant to accept this idea as well; it was too risky, discipline would not be maintained, it would not work, etc. The directing assignment was reluctantly granted however, and the two were up to the task. In fact, "Christmas Twist" set attendance records and was highly successful. Join us in being amazed at what our young people are capable of doing!
